What do we know about reality and human nature, based on the knowledge that we have right now in 2025?

What is reality?

Is reality objective or subjective?

All evidence that we have demonstrates that reality is objective.

There is zero evidence that reality is subjective. There have been scientific studies that demonstrate that prayer, emotions, and wishes do not have any influence on the fundamental nature of reality.

There is no evidence for anything supernatural interacting with our universe. There is zero evidence for any “interactive god.”

Eistein discovered that everything in the universe is energy. Energy can take different forms, but it’s all energy. The shape and form that energy takes is determined by the objective natural laws of reality. All energy is controlled by the laws of

Physics, whether it is alive or not.

Reality is objective.

What is human nature?

Is human nature objective or subjective?

Human nature is fundamentally objective, “energy in” and “energy out.” There are a lot of subjective choices and nature that each human has in their life, but all of that is built on top of an objective human nature. The easiest way to help someone understand that human nature is objective is to remind them that reality is objective. Reality is ruled by objective rules. For an organism to survive and evolve, it must have a fundamental nature that obeys the rules of reality “there is an objective nature metaphorically evolved cowboy lasso that keeps the organism tied to physics.”

No animal can evolve without a fundamental nature that obeys reality’s natural laws. All mortal organisms have a fundamental nature to survive and thrive. An organism’s nature is designed to keep that organism alive and surviving so that they can live and pass on their genes. The subjective parts of a human’s life come after or are built on top of our human fundamental nature.

Human nature is objective.

Is human nature individualistic or tribal based?

Individualistic

Humans are fundamentally individualistic. The best example that I can give to demonstrate that humans are fundamentally individualistic, is to remind people of what a baby’s 3rd word is typically. A baby usually learns the word for mom and dad, first. This is important because these people determine whether the baby lives. The baby knows to identify the people who are most important to their life. The 3rd word a baby typically knows is “no.” The baby probably learns the word yes and no around the same time, but typically they verbal the word “no” before they verbalize the word “yes.” If a baby wants something, then they will typically give the answer with their facial expressions and body language. A baby learns early on that the word “no” gives them some power and choice over their life experiences with other people.

Humans love to have choices and options over their own life. Not all humans want to be the leader, but all humans want to have choice over whether or not they do an action. Humans want to be able to say no.

Tribalistic

Humans are also fundamentally tribalistic. The very first human to evolve would not have survived unless there was a tribe there to protect them and give them the resources they needed to grow to adulthood. This is also true for every human who has ever lived. All humans need a tribe to survive and thrive.

Human nature is fundamentally tribalistic. We need a tribe to survive. Our first two words are typically words to identify the other humans who are in charge of raising us. We learn these words first because our life is 100% dependent on others, so we take action to incentivize others to take the action we need to live.

Individualistic vs Tribalistic

Human nature is fundamentally both individualistic and tribalistic. If I had to pick one over the other though to form a hierarchy of what is most important, I would say that humans are primarily tribalistic. Our individual nature comes 2ndary to our tribal instincts.

Are humans emotionally based, or reason based?

In order to understand human nature, we need to understand where human nature is located in the human being. All humans are guided by their brain, to whatever degree it functions. Humans have emotions and the ability to reason, so which is primary?

The simplest way to determine if a human is more emotionally based or reason based, is to simply look at the brain structure from an evolutionary standpoint. The two parts of the brain that we are going to look at here is the “primal brain” and the “frontal lobe.”

According to the evolution of humans, the primal brain part evolved first, so it is most likely that it is more fundamental to humans’ ability to HAVE consciousness.

The frontal lobe is the part of a human that really makes us different from other animals and other species that were really close to humans. It is most likely accurate to say that the frontal lobe in the human brain, is the most important part of being human. Human’s abilities to collect information and then use that information to enhance their life, is our greatest ability and it is only made possible by our frontal lobe.

All animals focus on surviving. If they are able to get a hang on that, then they try to also thrive/excel in life. Humans have a unique ability to thrive that other animals lack, because we have a frontal lobe that allows us to use reason to think much more clearly and accurately about information. Our ability to reason helps us master skills that help us easily meet our basic survival needs, which frees up time for humans to focus on specific areas of abilities or knowledge. Humans build on top of previous generations knowledge and technology, so that we can increase our ability to survive and thrive.

It is important to understand the brain and human nature “as is” if we are to figure out a set of moral principles that will help humans live optimally.

A human can easily lose their ability to use reason, if their emotions and instincts are out of control. Human desire starts in the primal brain. Ideally, human desire passes through the frontal lobe before a human acts, but it is not necessary. Humans act on pure instincts all the time. A single action taken based on instincts may or may not be moral, but if a human were to live their life based on only instincts, then that person would live a very immoral life. Instincts and emotions are not tools of clear cognition, which is why people who only act on them always end up irrational and immoral.

One way that humans have found to hack their emotional based consciousness, is to come up with stories about heroes or gods, who protect them and guide them. This is the beginning of humans using intellectual concepts. There is no evidence for any gods, but humans did not fully understand that when they created superhuman heroes and fictional gods’ concepts. Humans were overwhelmed by fear and emotions, so they created characters that helped them feel brave and safe. They created fictional places (another psychological hacking concept) for humans to go after they died, because the emotions from losing your loved ones caused them so much pain. Humans experienced less pain from death with the help of these after life concepts, if they imagined a future where they would be able to see those loved ones again. They processed their emotions by “burying them to deal with later.”

Using fictional characters to hack the human brain is a good idea, as long as it is set up reasonably. If the use of fictional characters to hack human psychology is set up irrationally, then history teaches us that it is going to lead to great pain, suffering, and immorality. In order to reasonably hack the human emotional brain with a character, you need to do two things; you need to allow each person to pick their own hero character, and you need it to be 100% clear to each person that this “hero character concept” is 100% fictional.

Fundamental law of morality

To understand morality, we need to break morality down into first principles. Morality is concerned with figuring out the difference between good and bad behavior.

What standards can we use to determine whether action is good or bad?

Are the behaviors life affirming or life destroying?

In order for human behavior to be moral:

  1. It must be in line with our nature to survive and thrive.

  2. It must be in line with the nature of reality.

  3. It must be a set of principles that works for all humans and all human interactions. A morally correct code should include principles to guide people who are concerned with morality. A morally correct code should include in its overall code and strategy a way to morally address and interact with humans who are not able to understand morality and those who are not really concerned with morality.

    1. It’s important to understand that not all humans have the ability to be moral. If a person is not able to understand the concept of morality, then they are not able to be moral in the way that I am talking about.

      1. People with intellectual handicaps and young children typically fall into this category.

    2. It is important to understand that some people value other things over morality. There are people who are smart enough to understand the concept of morality, but they do not value it #1.

    3. Some people are not able to think beyond their survival needs. These people are more concerned about being part of a group to help them survive short term, than they are about being a part of a moral group that will build the long-term morally ideal world for their great grandkids 1,000 years from now.

    4. It is only moral to do violence in self-defense and volitionally agreed upon sport. It is not moral to control other people through violence.

      1. It is moral for a person to use violence to defend themselves from people who violate their individual rights, regardless of whether that person is being immoral because they cannot understand the concept or they just don’t care about being moral.

      2. People who do not understand morality and people who do not care about being moral, need to be addressed by any moral code that claims to be correct. These people are literally a part of reality and will always be a part of human society, so these kinds of people need to be included into the overall mode code for humanity.

        1. Using violence to control is immoral and will not work, because human nature is individual and always trying to be free to have control over themselves. Using violence to control humans will always lead to a revolution, which means chaos and suffering.

        2. A system of social incentives is the only moral system that can be used to influence people to be moral, when they do not want to or do not know what that means.

          1. You need cops/jails to take care of people when they are immoral and violate other people’s rights.

          2. You need preachers/counselors/scholars to teach society the correct moral code and incentive system.

          3. You need educational systems, institutions, and social groups to spread the moral code and give the social incentives needed to keep people moral.

Whatever correct morality is, it will need to find the optimal way to discover the principles that optimally enhance human life so that it lives in accordance with objective reality and objective human nature.

The fundamental rule of morality is, “Irrationality always leads to immorality.”

Irrationality may not lead to immorality right away, but it is always a step closer to being immoral. It may take 100 irrational decisions before a person is immoral. It may only take one irrational decision before a person is immoral. Each situation is different and depends on a number of factors, but at the end of the day, “irrationality always leads to immorality.”

Facts and reason are the only correct path to discovering the correct moral principles to build a moral ideology on top of.

Summary of what we know about reality, human nature, and morality.

Reality is objective and ruled by laws of nature.

Human nature is objective and ruled by the laws of nature.

  1. Humans are tribalistic fundamentally.

    1. Humans are individuals 2ndary.

  2. Humans are emotionally/instinctually based.

    1. Reason is 2ndary to humans fundamentally.

In order for humans to be moral they need to understand objective reality and objective human nature. They need to discover the principles that guide human action so that they can optimally survive and thrive, by adhering to the laws of nature.

  1. Mortal organic animals are not entitled to anything.

    1. Objective reality and laws of nature do not give a shit about human life. It does not matter at all to physics whether or not an animal is alive to understand it or not. Physics will never give animals anything. It would be 100% DELUSIONAL to BELIEVE that physics is MAGICALLY going to do CHARITY for animals.

    2. Humans are NOT ENTITLED to FORCE other humans to do stuff for them. Violence is only moral in self-defense. Violence to turn other humans into your SLAVE is IRRATIONAL and IMMORAL.

  2. Irrationality always leads to immorality.

  3. Correct morality is only possible when its foundation is built on reason and facts of objective reality.
